On Monday the University of Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit both opened their doors for the start of the new academic year, officially ending the summer holidays, AT5 reports.
Both universities had a full program of lectures and talks scheduled for the first day. The VU even had a visit from Minister Jet Bussemaker of Education, Culture and Science.
On Monday Bussemaker also announced that the government is pushing 7.5 million euros into creating a smoother transition between high school and higher education and thereby also into fair and equal chances in Education. “Every child, every student deserves an equal opportunity. Everyone in society needs that. But education can and must be the driving force in this”, she said.
