Bill had an appearance on a number of well-known variety shows, including The Ed Sullivan Show in 1948. When he was cast as “Alexander Scott” in I Spy in 1965, he received his big break. Bill’s performance garnered him numerous Emmy awards. The Bill Cosby Show, in which Bill portrays a teacher, debuted in 1969, but it initially only ran for two years. On Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids (1972), he produced a Filmation cartoon based on many of his high school friends, including Mushmouth, Weird Harold, and Dumb Donald. The theme was humorous, but it focused on the more educational side of Cosby. He studied for many years while working in the 1960s and 1970s. Bill eventually received a doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts.
