It’s still a matter of big debate who’ll be Arsenal’s manager at the start of next season.
According to the rumour mill, Arsene Wenger, who is out of contract when the campaign concludes, has been presented with a two year deal from the Gunners.
At the same time, we’ve recently read reports claiming that Arsenal have reached out to Juventus manager Max Allegri.
The Express have claimed less than two weeks ago, “Allegri’s representatives have been locked in talks with Arsenal hierarchy.”
Juventus were in action on Wednesday night in Serie A when they won 2-0 at Crotone, and the occasion gave the Italian press the chance to press Allegri on the rumours linking him with the Gunners.
Allegri’s coy response
Allegri told Mediaset Premium the following on links with Arsenal:
I won’t deny or confirm anything. I am in sync with the club, now we have to focus on winning.
At this time of the season the media always says I’m leaving, even when things are going really well.
It should also be noted that Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta was far more concrete in his belief that Allegri will stay at Juventus, and not move to Arsenal anytime soon. He was quoted saying:
Aside from the fact we have a contract with Allegri, I think there are still great targets we need to achieve together and our rapport is very good.
There is no reason for him to leave Juventus as there is great mutual admiration and affection.
