Barcelona 2-0 Real Betis – Barcelona earned a comfortable victory over Real Betis as the Nou Camp paid tribute to the victims of the horrendous terror attacks in Catalonia on Thursday.
Although football has been the last thing on the city’s mind this week, Barcelona kicked-off their La Liga campaign with a solid home victory, thanks to an own goal from Alin Tosca and Sergi Roberto’s strike.
Gerard Deulofeu played a key role in both goals, with Tosca deflecting his cross into his own net in the 36th minute and teeing up Roberto for the second.
Messi struck the post three times as Barcelona were repeatedly denied as they tried to add to their lead, but this was a fine way for Ernesto Valverde to start his league career, especially after the beating handed out to them by Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.
