Those who cook at home can easily relate to the fact that there are days when you spoil the dish by adding excess oil, salt, or seasoning.

And that’s when you remember kitchen hacks taught by your mom or grandmom.

For instance, if the dish is too salty, add a few flour dough balls, allow the balls to rest for a while, and remove the balls from your dish, and it is perfect to be served.

Today, we are going to tell you a few hacks about how to remove excess oil from a wide range of dishes. Scroll below and get set to learn these hacks.

1. From cooked curry
According to a recent tweet shared by @24hrknowledge handle, the easiest way to remove excess oil from cooked curry is to place a huge ice cube in it. As per the video, the excess oil gets stuck beneath the ice and then the layer of fat can be easily removed and separated from the gravy. Another way to remove excess oil is to allow the curry to cool down. Refrigerate it for a few hours. The fat would rise to the top and thicken. You can scoop away the fat using a spoon or ladle.

2. From fried food
Always fry the food at the right smoking point; it helps in avoiding excess oil being absorbed by the food. Also, it is suggested to use a slotted spoon/ladle to cook and remove food from the pan/kadhai. This helps in removing excess oil and one should always place the fried food on a kitchen towel or absorbent paper to absorb any exterior oil that may still be clinging to them.

3. From sauce
The easiest way to remove excess oil from homemade sauce is to refrigerate for an hour. Now, skim off the top layer of it. Boil the sauce; allow it to cool and excess oil will rise to the top. You can easily scoop it off and your sauce is ready to use.

4. From soup
It often happens that the blend of butter and oil results in excess fat content in the soup. According to experts, you can use an absorbent paper or serviette. Simply fold it to form a ladle shape and then tap on slightly warm soup with excess oil floating on top. The paper will absorb the excess oil and your soup is ready to be relished.

5. From dry vegetables
According to homechefs, simply add some roasted gram flour, depending upon the amount of vegetable, mix and cook the vegetable for 4-7 minutes. The roasted flour will absorb the excess oil and enhance the flavour of the dish.
