The Enugu State Government Friday ordered the closure of all land borders, inter-state transportation and markets in the state with effect from March 31.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, who disclosed this in a statement in Enugu, said the state government ordered the closure of all markets in the state irrespective of the size till further notice.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday evening confirmed five fresh cases in Abuja and Oyo, bringing the number of infected persons in Nigeria to 70.
According to the statement, the markets exempted from the shutdown include those dealing on food items, water, pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment.
Others are those trading in basic items of domestic need which must comply with the requirements of the NCDC.
The government directed all local government chairmen to ensure strict compliance with the closure of markets within their jurisdiction without prejudice to the exceptions.
