The Kogi State government led by Governor Yahaya Bello has placed seven people suspected to have contracted coronavirus in the state on community isolation under strict monitoring for a minimum of 14 days.
This was revealed on Tuesday by Dr Saka Audu, the Kogi State commissioner of Health, while he was updating newsmen on the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
According to Dr Audu, the suspected patients were placed in isolation after they had previous history of travelling to COVID-19 high risk countries within the last one month of the outbreak.
The Kogi State commissioner of Health also informed that five of the isolated victims are from Lokoja, while the other two are from Ajaokuta and Okene Local Government Areas respectively.
The update by the Kwara State government comes after the Commandant General, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, directed the immediate deployment of disaster management operatives of the corps across the country to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement issued by Ekunola Gbenga, the media assistant to the commandant general, said the directive followed the nationwide measures being deployed by governments in the country to contain the spread of the virus.
