Buhari didn’t order El-Rufai to give Sanusi his recent appointments – Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has recanted his earlier claim of his principal ordering Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, to give deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi his recent appointments.

Recall that Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was recently appointed as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University (KASU) and Deputy Chairman of the state’s investment promotion agency.

He tweeted earlier;

“By the way, I am yet to see anyone praising President Muhammadu Buhari for HRH Muhammadu Sanusi’s recent appointments, “he ordered his ‘godson’ Mallam Nasir el-Rufai to make the appointments”. All the newspapers are welcome to carry this information.

“I have a picture where Buhari was ordering El-Rufai, I will soon drop it, as one of the major newspapers, I hope you’ll publish it as my evidence and ask Kwankwaso to also come up with his own evidence when PMB was ordering Ganduje.”

However in rejoinder tweets, Bashir Ahmad issued a disclaimer. The presidential aide revealed that he made the claim to counter false narratives of President Buhari ordering Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to dethrone the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria.

Bashir insisted that claims of Buhari ordering Sanusi’s dethronement is untrue, malicious and politically motivated, as the President does not have a history of intervening in the affairs of any state in the country unless the issue at hand is of national consequence.

He tweeted;

After few tweets on ‘Buhari ordered Ganduje’ and ‘Buhari ordered el-Rufai’ I want to put out this DISCLAIMER, BUHARI DIDN’T ORDER EL-RUFAI, I just used it sarcastically to counter the false narrative that HE ORDERED GANDUJE, which was untrue, malicious and politically motivated.

The President does not have a history of intervening in the affairs of any state in the country, unless the issue at hand is of national consequence. On such matters which impinge on national security, he has a duty of involvement as the law stipulates. – Presidency

As outlined in the Constitution, the appointment or removal of emirs and other traditional leaders is strictly within the jurisdiction of state governments. It is unfair and disingenuous of opposition politicians to try to link the situation in Kano to the federal government.

When President Buhari was giving Gov el-Rufai order to offer MSII appointments, take it as my evidence that Buhari ordered el-Rufai. My last tweet on the topic, until those with H.E Kwankwaso’s phone number call and ask him to present his own evidence that Buhari ordered Ganduje.
