It seems like just days since we were lapping up glorious summer sun, but on Monday residents of southern Germany were strolling through the snow.
A low pressure which has spread over most of the country will push temperatures down into the minus figures over the next couple of nights, the German Weather Service (DWD) predicts.
While on the Baltic Sea coast there will be strong winds, in the Alpine region in the south the snow level will drop to 1,000 metres or even 900 metres on Tuesday.

Already on Monday, hikers on the Feldberg in the Black Forest were strolling through fresh snow.
Temperatures across the country are not expected to rise much above 14C before Thursday.
At the weekend though temperatures will begin to rise somewhat, even though the rain is likely to remain.
“It’ll be well above 10C. In the upper Rhine region it could reach 17C to 18C,” said Sebastian Schappert of the DWD.
