WASHINGTON: Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s account on social media platform Pinterest was hacked by members from hacking group OurMine, according to media reports on Wednesday (Nov 16).
This was the second time the group had hijacked Zuckerberg’s social media accounts after breaking into his Pinterest and Twitter accounts back in June, reported Forbes.
A post on his Pinterest page read: “Hacked by OurMine” and “Don’t worry, we are just testing your security, please contact us to tell you more about that and help you to keep your accounts safe.”
Forbes cited ZDNet’s Zack Whittaker as saying that the hackers had “discovered a vulnerability on Pinterest” and exploited it.
According to CNET, OurMine is known for “targeting high-profile users, such as company bosses and tech executives, and defacing their web accounts with the group’s name and a contact address”.
The group had also claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on Buzzfeed in October.
