An incredible story has broken in Spain on Sunday.
It’s been confirmed that assistant referee Pau Norbert Cebrián Devis has been suspended for two weeks by La Liga for inappropriate behaviour in the match between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The match finished 1-1 at the Camp Nou, as a late header from Sergio Ramos cancelled out Luis Suarez’s opener.
So what happened?
According to Marca, linesman Devis has been suspended after tunnel footage showed he was closely engaging with Barca’s players.
The story has been rubber-stamped by Spanish radio station Cadena SER, who have added that Real Madrid did not complain about Devis, rather the league took the action following their own investigation.
While the official has been deemed to have been too chatty with Barca’s players, there is no specific claim that the official gave any biased decisions in the game.
For the record, Barca are six points behind Real in the table.
