Two people were killed Thursday in wrong-way crash along State Road 429 near Winter Garden, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened about 10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of S.R. 429 near mile marker 19.
Witnesses told troopers a white Range Rover heading southbound on S.R. 429 traveled through the grassy median and into the northbound lanes of the highway, where it crashed hear-on into an Isuzu truck driving north.
The truck rolled over. Its driver, Demetrius Starling, 30, of Winter Park, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and later pronounced dead, FHP spokeswoman Kim Montes said in a press release.
The driver of the Range Rover, 39-year-old Kevin Butz of Winter Garden, died at the scene, according to Montes.
Two other vehicles were involved in the crash: a Toyota Camry and Chevy Cruze. The drivers of those vehicles were not injured, Montes said.
The crash, which remains under investigation, closed all northbound lanes of the highway.
