The weekend appears to have gone from bad to worse for Arsenal fans after the 3-1
defeat at Liverpool on Saturday.
When Alexis Sanchez was not named in the Arsenal line-up for the Liverpool game, it was inevitable that revelations would likely pour out over the weekend with regards to the future of the Chilean.
Alexis, like Mesut Ozil, is out of contract come the end of next season and looks likely to be leaving this summer.
Wenger v Sanchez
On Sunday it emerged that Alexis had been offered a new deal at Arsenal in the past few weeks, the Chilean’s representatives have simply not answered the Gunners
hierarchy.
In the last hour or so, the Daily Mirror have pushed further claims regarding Wenger and Sanchez, via journalist John Cross.
A long term Arsenal fan, and journalist who has written a book about Arsene Wenger, Cross is often close to scoops regarding the Gunners.
“Several rows”
According to Cross, Wenger dropped Sanchez for Liverpool as he is angry at his behaviour during and following the 5-1
defeat to Bayern Munich.
Cross writes: Sanchez “has become
increasingly difficult to manage… It is understood there have been several rows with the 28-year-old, because Wenger feels it has been affecting the rest of the squad.”
After the game, Wenger claimed he wanted to play a more long ball style at Anfield but now it appears the relationship with Alexis has hit breaking point.
PSG are now the clear favourites to sign Alexis and have offered him 300,000 pounds a week. Juventus are also in the mix
but the Old Lady cannot pay those kinds of wages…
