As the Gunners prepare to take on Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday night, German paper Bild have released some huge news.
After months of talks, the Gunners have agreed terms with Mesut Ozil over a new deal.
Ozil joined Arsenal back in 2013. His current deal expires in 2018.
Details of the new deal
According to Bild, 27-year-old Ozil has agreed a “lucrative” new long term deal to keep him at the Emirates Stadium.
As part of the deal, the playermaker will receive the number 10 shirt. He currently wears the number 11.
As to the specifics of the new deal, like the length of the contract or the financials attached, those details continue to be kept under wraps.
However, we do know that Ozil was previously on around £140,000-a-week, and one can only assume his weekly pay-packet is going up.
With Ozil now committed to the club, Arsenal will turn attentions to Alexis Sanchez. His contract also currently expires in 2018.
