Man United manager Jose Mourinho accused of €3.3m tax fraud

Jose Mourinho – The Spanish authorities appear to be very busy with clients of super agent Jorge Mendes right now.

Last week it emerged that the Spanish legal system was looking into Cristiano Ronaldo’s alleged tax fraud over image rights totalling nearly 15 million euros.

On Tuesday, Cristiano Ronaldo’s court date has been set and now Jose Mourinho has been accused of tax fraud amounting to just over 3 million euros.

The links with Jorge Mendes are unlikely to be ignored in the reporting of this case, which also looks quite damning for one of the most powerful men in football.

Spanish prosecutors have filed a claim against the current Manchester United boss on two counts of tax fraud, during his time at Real Madrid in 2011 and 2012.

Including Portugal defender Pepe, Jorge Mendes clients are now undoubtedly being targeted by the Spanish authorities.

There have been suggestions today that once they dealt with Barcelona, they were always coming for Real Madrid.

Expect Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to fight these allegations tooth and nail.

Both Pepe and Cristiano Ronaldo published lengthy statements when they were accused of tax fraud.

Mourinho set for a court date in Madrid?

Jose Mourinho could now follow Cristiano Ronaldo in having to testify in a Spanish court before the new season starts.

If the Ronaldo case is anything to go by, Mourinho will likely find out in a week’s time.

Manchester United play LA Galaxy in mid July as their preparations for 2017/2018 begin.

Mourinho guided Manchester United to winning the EFL Cup and Europa League in his first season at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have already begun signing players for next season. Swedish defender Victor Lindelof was announced last week.
