The Nigerian Senate today, December 15, 2016, rejected Ibrahim Magu’s nomination as Chairman of the EFCC.
According to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Aliyu Abdullahi, who addressed journalists after a closed-door session on Thursday, said the rejection was based on “security report.”
Abdullahi added that the rejection would be communicated to President Muhammadu Buhari to take further action.
Since the news hit the internet, Nigerians have been reacting to the development.
While many believe the decision of the lawmakers not to confirm Magu as EFCC chairman is a witch-hunt against the anti-graft agency boss, others are of the opinion that Magu does not possess the credibility to head an agency of such status.
