The China exodus in world football is sweeping through the Nigerian national team with news that as many as three Super Eagles stars are in talks to join captain John Obi Mikel in the money-spinning Chinese Super League before the end of the January transfer window.
Mikel completed a big money move to Tiajin Teda after 11 years with English Premier League side Chelsea early this month, and he appears to have blazed the trail for his international colleagues as reports coming out of England have it that Watford is set to sanction a move east for Ighalo.
Ighalo, 27, who rejected a massive offer to the Chinese League at the height of his form last season, is reportedly close to securing a transfer to Shanghai Shenhua who are on the verge of releasing Senegal’s Demba Ba to Turkish side Besiktas.
Joining Ighalo on the Chinese train is Fenerbahce outcast Emmanuel Emenike who has had a horrid time with the Istanbul club this term, Vanguard writes.
Having played second-fiddle to Robin van Persie and Moussa Sow for much of the campaign, Emenike has now attracted interest from a number of Chinese sides with a move set to be wrapped up before the end of January.
Similarly, Eagles midfielder Nosa Igiebor has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League with reports in Israel claiming Tianjin Quajin are in advanced talks with Maccabi Tel Aviv for his services.
