US president, Donald Trump, has successfully changed his address of residence from New York where he was born and literally lived all his life, to Florida because he has been treated unfairly by New York State tax laws.
New York charges as much as 9% state tax on residents unlike Florida that doesn’t charge state tax, and Trump has now changed his residence, also adding the White House as his second residence.
Trump’s lawyers in September filed documents with the Palm Beach County Circuit Court changing his primary residence from Trump Tower, New York to Mar-a-Lago, his resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
Trump claims that New York laws enacted by mostly Democrat lawmakers and politicians have made him pay excess millions of dollars in local, state and city taxes and claims he has been treated very unfairly by the state and city councils. Under New York law, anyone who spends more than 184 days a year in the state has to pay New York taxes.
Trump acknowledged the residential change of him and his wife in a series of tweets on Thursday, saying: ‘1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, is the place I have come to love and will stay for, hopefully, another 5 years as we MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, but my family and I will be making Palm Beach, Florida, our Permanent Residence.’
‘I cherish New York, and the people of New York, and always will, but unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state,’ he continued.
