This is Mohammed Khan, possibly Britain’s worst burglar.
He ransacked someone’s home – but got caught because he decided to have a nap rather than making a quick exit.
His stunned victim was surprised to find him curled up on the sofa.
And Khan had even covered himself with a blanket, with a wrench resting on his lap.
The real-life Goldilocks was discovered when the victim, a taxi driver, returned home from work and heard snoring.
The 22-year-old was woken by police, who then arrested him at 3.20am on February 20.
He was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court
Khan, from Smallthorne in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, pleaded guilty to burglary and was jailed for two years and three months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Judge Paul Glenn said: ‘The victim returned to find his home had been entered and ransacked.
‘Nothing very much had been taken because there was nothing very much of high value inside the house but a good deal of gratuitous damage had been caused.
‘He then heard snoring coming from the front room and he saw you covered up in a blanket.
‘You were arrested. In your pocket was his car key. In your hand was a wrench which he believed was his own. The inference I draw is you intended to take his car.
‘It must have been incredibly frightening to find someone in his home, a man with a history of violence, drunk, under the influence of drugs and with a weapon in his hand.’
Prosecutor Edward Soulsby said: ‘(The victim) could see the house had been ransacked and vandalised.
‘He heard snoring and discovered Khan asleep downstairs with a wrench on his lap. He went outside to call the police. The officers woke him up and arrested him. The victim’s car key fob was found on his person.’
The victim no longer feels safe in his home, the court heard.
Anis Ali, defending, conceded the burglary has had serious psychological consequences on the victim.
