The Italian Job remake, Set It Off, The Negotiator, and Friday are just a few of the films and music videos that F. Gary Grey has worked on. In 1992, Gary Grey made his directing debut with Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day” music video. His involvement with the music videos for other musicians, including Outkast, Queen Latifah, Dr. Dre, and Cypress Hill, eventually resulted from this. He continued to direct numerous other music videos, including those for the songs “I Believe In You And Me” by Whitney Houston, “Diggin’ On You” and “Waterfalls” by TLC, “If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time” by R. Kelly, “Show Me What You Got” by Jay-Z, and “Super High” by Rick Ross.
He was the director of the The Italian Job adaptation, which brought in more than $10 million domestically. He received the Best Director Prise at the 2004 Black American Film Festival thanks to it. Additionally, he has directed movies including Be Cool (2005), Ryan Caulfield: Year One (1999), A Man Apart (2003), and Law Abiding Citizen (2009).
