Brooke Shields, an actress, is thought to be worth $20 million. Despite her best efforts to be taken seriously as an actress, Brooke Shields has been unable to escape her youth, when she found herself in the precarious position of being both constantly photographed in ways that bordered on the mildly pornographic and idolised as a late ’70s icon of wholesome virginal innocence. Teri Shields, a part-time actress who brought her daughter in front of the camera before she turned one, managed and promoted Shields’ early career.
Shields, also known as the Ivory Snow baby, was once referred to as the “most beautiful baby in America.” After years of selling goods, she became so in-demand that her mother began promoting her under the name “Brooke Shields & Co.” Shields made her debut in a feature film with Alice Sweet Alice (1976), but it wasn’t until French filmmaker Louis Malle cast her in Pretty Baby (1978) as a 12-year-old New Orleans prostitute who becomes the loving object of a much older painter that Shields established herself as a legitimate star. Shields (or a body duplicate used to portray her) was nude in several sequences, which caused a lot of controversy when the movie was released.
While she did take part in some explicit sequences, director Malle and his cameraman Sven Nyquist handled such scenes with tact and judgement, and it was generally agreed that Shields was not exploited in the movie. Shields’ performance in Pretty Baby continues to be her best to date. Shields was one of the best fashion models in the world throughout her teenage years, and her face was well-known.
Shields decided it was time for college and enrolled at Princeton, where she fully engaged herself in college life save for the occasional appearance on a Bob Hope television special, made-for-TV movie, or other special event. She majored in French Literature while there and developed a passion for theatre, participating in two local performances of Love Letters to gain experience.Shields received honours at his Princeton graduation. Shields returned to acting full-time after graduating and starred in films that are best characterised as average. Shields had her own situation comedy on the 1996 season of Suddenly Susan on the NBC network, where she portrayed a career-minded single woman trying to put her life back together after splitting from her affluent fiancé. Shields progressively developed into her part and showed herself to be a capable, charismatic comedic actor, although never being among the most natural and unhurried of actresses. She was wed to legendary tennis player Andre Agassi. The estimated nett worth of Brooke Shields is $20 million.
