It seems as though The Weeknd will be making his first big screen debut in an upcoming Adam Sandler flick titled Uncut Gems, Page Six reports.
Sources tell the publication that the movie has been filming for two weeks now and The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, came through to New York’s Meatpacking district to perform a singing scene at 1Oak.
“They’re filming there and took over for several days. They’re shooting a club scene,” the source said.
It’s unclear what Abel’s role in the movie will be, and rapper Trinidad James is also another artist said to be involved in the movie as well. Uncut Gems centers aroundAdam’s character who owns a jewelry store in New York’s Diamond District and continues his gambling addiction looking for a way to pay off his debts.
Idina Menzel and Lakeith Stanfield also star in the movie that has yet to have a release date.
