The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has directed all network service providers to accelerate the implementation of new harmonized USSD codes, under which all networks will use a unified code to carry out services such as airtime recharge, balance check, data purchase, and so on. In layman’s terms, this means that the same code you use to check your MTN account balance will also be used to check your balance in Airtel, Glo, or 9mobile. The deadline for the start of this new development was set for May 17, 2023. And, as of this writing, the harmonized codes have been implemented.
