Celebrated Kenyan hip hop musician King Kaka has condemned an incident where a primary school girl reportedly committed suicide, after allegedly being embarrassed by her teacher over her menses.
King Kaka; the founder of Bank on Me Sanitary Campaign, a drive that aims at providing school girls with sanitary towels said search incidents should not be happening anymore.
“Before I release my new song let me address this issue, a class six pupil at Kabiangek primary school in Konoin, Bomet took her own life claiming one of the teachers at her school picked on her and mocked her for soiling her uniform with her menses. This needs to STOP!” said King Kaka.
“Shame!! Such a Big Shame!!!!” he added.
The 14-year-old pupil reportedly hanged herself after her female teacher told her she was dirty in the presence of her classmates.
According to her mother, her daughter was told to leave class after she soiled her uniform.
“She had nothing to use as a pad. When the blood stained her clothes, she was told to to leave the classroom and stand outside,” she said as quoted by Standard.
On Tuesday, the mother and other parents stormed the school to protest the incident.
