One of the few remaining unrealised goals of Nigerian music is winning the shiny Grammy plaque.
9ice and Skales have openly expressed in song their desire of winning the coveted award. And if others haven’t openly made known their intention to achieve same, you can bet they are thinking it too.
So what would it take to be the first Nigerian musician to win it?
For Coded Tunes head, ID Cabasa, ‘Every thought is a seed. If you plant pangolo music, don’t count on harvesting a Grammy!’

Even as it seems Wizkid might be the first in Nigeria to achieve this feat on the back of his collaboration with Drake, is Wizzy’s music and sound enough to earn him the plaque individually?
Wizzy might win where King Sunny Ade and Femi Kuti have previously failed but is his sound more refined than theirs?
The argument about the importance of content and sound will probably go on even as the Grammys itself polarizes opinions when it rolls out its awards.
