Don Jazzy might not be too impressed with how fairly his record label has fared so far in the Nigeria music scene, especially with the above average album which two of it’s top acts, namely Tiwa Savage and Reekado Banks dropped this year.
Exactly this period last year, Don Jazzy was quoted at the press parley for Access Mavin concert saying, “Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’ja won’t be dropping albums anytime soon as they do not have it in their plans.”
Explaining further that releasing albums in Nigeria tend to destroy artiste careers in the country.
Months later, his latest signing, Reekado Banks beat Lil Kesh and Kiss Daniel to pick up the Next Rated Award at Headies, which in extension led to Don Jazzy pushing his youngster to drop his album, ‘Spotlight’ after Lil Kesh and G worldwide act, Kiss Daniel dropped, ‘Yagi’ and ‘New Era’ album, just to keep up with the competition, tho it was quickly dwarfed by Kiss and Kesh album which were already making name for themselves in the market.
Now, recent findings from Mavin records shows that the popular label is working day and night to increase the pace on albums from Korede and Di’ja. This comes after the label could only boast of one mention in the newly released Headies Nomination list.
Altims and Babyfresh, Mavin record young producers have been working round the clock to make sure the albums will be ready before the first week in December.
Probably a change in the market or simply a change of heart but one thing is certain, Don Jazzy believes the best way for his supreme Mavin team to get back to the top in the music game, they need a very solid album out there.
