Seven people have been confirmed dead while several others have been left injured after a tragic car accident that happened on the N1 in the Free State on Saturday.
Emergency services in the province who responded to the scene of the accident said two vehicles collided this morning.
According to emergency services spokesperson Sipho Towa, one person was seriously injured and has been airlifted to hospital.
“On arrival five people were critically injured,” he said.
It was reported that three people also lost their lives in a head-on collision in Limpopo.
The collision involved a truck and a minibus on the N1 near Nyl Plaza.
According to the provincial traffic authorities, the incident happened after a speeding minibus hit the truck from behind.
