Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, the wife of Abia governor, on Thursday urged women in Abia to be self-reliant in order to be active contributors to nation building.
Ikpeazu said this in Umuahia while distributing empowerment items during the 2016 Abia Family Enhancement Summit.
She stressed the need for women to become self-reliant in order to enhance the socio-economic growth of the state and the nation at large.
Ikpeazu expressed the hope that the beneficiaries would make judicious use of the training and empowerment kits they had received.
In his lecture on financial management, Mr Robby Akujuobi, a resource person, said that every entrepreneur ought to separate personal and business finances in order to record success.
“When it comes to business, make sure you negotiate everything; plan a regular review of your suppliers and service providers to save cost and ensure your pricing is real,” Akujuobi said.
Dr Edith Nwosu, another resource person who spoke on girl-child education, said that Nigerian women ought to take their rightful position in domestic and global affairs.
“The fact remains that sustainable development in Nigeria may not be possible if women remained uneducated, discriminated and disenfranchised,” Nwosu said.
