The BUA Cement Group has added N300 million to its earlier donation of N1 billion for the fight against Covid-19.
The group’s Chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu, has also gone ahead to redeem the pledge.
The company said in a statement that the money was deposited into the COVID-19 relief fund account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
According to the statement, the chairman of the group donated the additional N300 million to help Sokoto, Edo and Ogun states fight the spread of the virus.
Rabiu had earlier announced he was making cash donation of N1bn to Nigeria as well as donations of medical and emergency kits and supplies including face masks, and test kits to nine states.
On the materials, the company said they would arrive in the country soon.
It added that the additional N300 million donation was made on behalf of its cement subsidiary, BUA Cement, having its major operations in Edo and Sokoto, while Ogun was selected due to its proximity to Lagos, which currently has the highest number of coronavirus patients in Nigeria.
