Pogba’s tough return to United
Paul Pogba’s much-hyped return to Manchester United hasn’t been all it was cracked up to be – for now.
After so much hype and fanfare surrounding ‘Pogback’, the whole thing has been a bit anticlimactic so far, with Pogba’s performances flattering to deceive.
Having signed for a world record 89m pound transfer fee, Pogba has been playing like a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders, and the price tag has clearly been playing on his mind.
But it looks like the Frenchman’s lightened some shoulders now, with his performance against Leicester today.
Rooney dropped, Pogba scored, what next?
Prior to today’s game, Pogba had yet to even have a hand in a Manchester United goal, let alone score one. Paul Pogba has finally netted his first United goal.
But he’s now finally broken his duck, scoring his first goal for the club today in their rout of Leicester.
OK, it was no golazo – Pogba wasn’t bought to score old-fashioned header – but given the pressure he’s been under, Pogba won’t be complaining.
Aside from his goal, it was a top quality performance from Pogba, and Twitter went mad for the £89 million man.
