Rest in Peace Smokin’ Bert Cooper.
We received the sad news today that Bert Cooper passed away this afternoon (05/10/19). Here is a photo of him at the Briscoe Awards a few weeks ago. Bert gave Evander Holyfield a big scare in a fight for the heavyweight title, fought a true classic with Michael Moorer in Atlantic City, and gave us many, many more memorable nights. Bert was a very good fighter and a true character. I will miss him.

R.I.P. ‘Smokin’ Bert Cooper…Cruiserweight trained by Joe Frazier. Stepped up to Heavyweight and it was always a thing of which Bert Cooper would show up? Well he showed up big on 6 days notice against Evander Holyfield and darn nearly became Heavyweight Champion of the world. Also his fight against Michael Moorer was a back and forth slugfest…Once again, F’ing Cancer takes a life too soon.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
