One third of the brain trust behind the beloved Indiana based brewery 3 Floyds, Simon Floyd, has tragically passed away.
Simon’s death was reported by various sources as well as by some posts from social media users.
A former classmate of Floyd’s shared the news on Facebook, writing alongside a photo of himself enjoying a beer: “Here is to my high school friend, Simon Floyd, a Zombie Dust in your honor. May your name remain a blessing, always!!” A Zombie Dust is one of many offerings one can enjoy from 3 Floyds.
Simon, alongside brother Nick and father Mike, founded Three Floyds Brewing in Hammond, Indiana in 1996. The brewery moved to Munster IN in 2000 and have remained a top name in the industry since. Three Floyds has been ranked in many year-end lists by reviewers as the best beer on the planet. It also logged commercial success, being ranked on the list of top 50 Brewing companies by sales volume in 2018.
According to its bio, “Three Floyds Brewing is a Midwestern brewery dedicated to crafting a wide and “not normal” range of quality ales and lagers,” Following news of Simon’s demise, many who knew him are cracking open one of their offerings in his honor.
