He attended Sterling City ISD and Cross Plains ISD, college in Weatherford, Texas on a rodeo scholarship, and later attended and graduated from the college Fire and EMS Academy.
River was a member of the FBC Cross Plains, Texas, (WSTR) World Series Team Roping, and The Internachi Home Inspectors, as well as the owner of Xpert Inspection Services. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, roping, snowboarding, and loved spending time with his children.
River is survived by his three children, Stone Reign (7); Cove Kennedy (5); Drift Briar (3); and their mother, Chloe Dillard, of Santo, Texas; parents, Bud and Becky Dillard, of Cross Plains, Texas; sister, Laska Bree and Matt McGuire (Steel, Saber, and Spear), of Weatherford, Texas; grandad, James “Pop” Allen, of Santa Anna, Texas; grandmother, Joy “MaMoo” Dillard, of Cross Plains, Texas; aunts and uncles, Deb and Bill Glasscock, Tony Watson, Dean Dillard, Guy and Chelle Allen, and Gip and Charla Allen; cousins, Angela, Miles, Rowdy, China, Cutter, Brone, Scott, Raelee, Cigi, Sadle, Shyla, Sage, and Blake; special family, Richard and Gera Bruner (Doc, Dee, and Sunny) of Millsap, Texas; and numerous other family members and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ann Allen, and his grandfather, Bill Dillard.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the First Methodist Church, Cross Plains, Texas, at 2:00 p.m.
