Many Nigerians perplexed amid the altercation between federal government and Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba activist, for extradition, have raised concerns as to why the former is pursuing the latter.
Igboho was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security agents. Since then, the Nigerian government through its Ambassador to Benin Republic, Tukur Buratai, has been making serious efforts to convince the government of that country to extradite Igboho so that he would come back and face the main trial here in Nigeria.
In view of this, this article discusses the three major allegations the federal government leveled against Igboho for which he is wanted in Nigeria.
From the look of things, the allegations are so weighty that if they are backed up with evidence, then the Benin Republic government may grant the request of Nigerian government to extradite Igboho.
On the other hand, Igboho may also be lucky to convince the Benin Republic government not to grant the request especially if there are no strong evidence to back up the heavy allegations against him.

Igboho was accused of trafficking in arms.
This allegation became very clear after the raid on Igboho’s home by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) weeks ago. After the raid, the DSS accused Igboho of gun running. Although, Igboho denied it but the allegation was not dropped.
He was also accused of inciting violence to disturb public peace.
This is another accusation against Igboho that he may find hard to defend. Igboho led his men and supporters for various rallies across the South West States.
Sometimes, security agents dispersed them because they said that such rallies were usually illegal and could lead to violence even as they disturb public peace. The last rally at Ojota in Lagos led to the death of a lady whose family is still demanding justice as they alleged that she was killed by a stray bullet from one of the security agents that dispersed Igboho’s supporters.
Igboho was accused of demanding for secession from Nigeria.
This is the heaviest allegation that Igboho may not bother to deny. He has been leading the pro-Yoruba nation agitation for a long time now. They have been demanding to become a separate nation by breaking away from Nigeria. But, the Nigerian constitution repudiates secession.
