Bafana Bafana achieved what was arguably their biggest result in recent years as they beat Libya 2-1 to qualify for the African Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt in three months time.
Qualification for the tournament would have been high on the agenda for the side and, as it’s usually the case, a cash incentive will have been placed on the table.
However, as SowetanLive reports, the players will not get bonuses for qualifying for the tournament, but their victory against the Mediterranean Knights still guarantees them a big payday nonetheless.
Safa acting chief executive Russell Paul revealed to the publication that they could rake in more moola based on how they fare in Egypt.
“The players knew they had a job to do and were not focused on money before qualifying,” Paul said.
“Now that they qualified, it’s a different situation, and there will be a bonus structure in terms of Afcon itself. They will receive the normal bonus for the win.”

How much Bafana players received for Libya win
Despite not getting an added bonus for qualification itself, Bafana players are still getting their usual commission for triumphing on the day.
According to SowetanLive, that fee is set at R60 000 for each player.
Bafana are still waiting to find out who they will be facing in the group stages of the tournament, and the draw will take place on Friday, 12 April.
Progressing beyond the first round will have quite the lucrative reward for the squad, with each quarterfinalist set to pocket R11 million in prize money. This should bump up the bonus fee each player gets at the end of the campaign.
Should they go all the way and win their second Afcon crown, Bafana are set to claim R60 million.
