Jordin Sparks is an American singer-songwriter who specialises in pop and R&B. She is also a model and an actress. The sixth season’s youngest winner, Sparks debuted at age 17 and rose to fame with the Chris Brown duet “No Air,” which has amassed 4 million digital sales to date, making it the most successful single ever by an American Idol participant. Sparks, the daughter of former Dallas Cowboys left cornerback and former New York Giants defensive back Phillippi Sparks, had no formal vocal training but displayed a natural talent for singing as a young child and was drawn to performance in general at a young age. Sparks began singing, performing in plays, and modelling in her early teens and began to receive praise for her abilities. She has won multiple honours and accolades as a result of the popularity of her debut album and its four top 20 hits, including an American Music Award in 2008 and her first Grammy nomination in 2009.
She made her acting debut in 2009 on Disney’s The Suite Life on Deck, appearing as herself as a guest star in the “Crossing Jordin” episode. In 2010, she featured in “In the Heights” on Broadway. In Phoenix, Arizona, on December 22, 1989, Jordin Brianna Sparks was born.
