A well-known comedian and television host, Jay Leno makes an average of $15 million a year and is thought to be worth $400 million. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC is the host’s primary source of income. According to a 2010 Forbes estimate, his show drew more than 4 million viewers. He became one of the top TV hosts in America as a result.
In the 1950s, in New Rochelle, Jay was born James Douglas Muir Leno. He began his career by performing in nightclubs, and on March 2, 1977, he made his television debut on The Tonight Show. He began his career in comedy in 1973. Jay was the top candidate to replace Johnny Carson because of his capacity to draw a sizable audience. He was the guest on NBC’s late-night show before David Letterman.
He eventually succeeded Carson permanently in 1992 and earned an estimated $1 million that year. His TV show profits increased to $3 million in 1994. In 2009, he took his first break from television. He however shocked the crowd with a victorious comeback. He revamped the Tonight Show, which helped him increase his salary to $24 million. His annual revenue dropped to $15 million in 2012, though.
Jay Leno decided to invest his money in his interest of collecting vintage automobiles and motorbikes, in contrast to the majority of showbiz figures who invest in businesses. He currently has over 100 cars and 90 bikes, with a total estimated value of $50 million. On his site, jaylenosgarage.com, he talks about cars. In the spring of 2014, after 22 years in the media and entertainment business, Jay Leno would formally leave NBC and be replaced by Jimmy Fallon. Although he wed Mavis Leno in 1980, they are childless. Through Feminist Majority, he donates a portion of his salary to the effort to abolish gender inequality in Afghanistan.
