Zodwa Wabantu ain’t on the cool side with Poet Ntsiki Mazwai and the dancer expressed this when she shunned the poet’s greeting at the Moja Love studios.
Zodwa explained her reasons for not welcoming Ntsiki during a conversation with TshishaLIVE saying:
“I had never had any interaction with Ntsiki before the one you are talking about. I know she’s popular on Twitter, but I don’t have Twitter, so I know from what my friends told me what she says about me. I was at the Moja Love studios for a shoot and she approached me in the make-up room to tell me how she loves me and stuff, but I was firm and I told her where to get off, because I know what she says behind my back.”
“I don’t care about her or what she says. I just can’t pretend, so when she came to me I was firm, I told her the truth about how I feel. People always use me for whatever reason behind my back for relevance or fame or whatever, and then want to come to me like we are friends. I don’t appreciate being used like that. I was just protecting myself. Don’t say one thing about me in my absence and another in my presence.”
Ntsiki gave her part of the story also, defending herself, she said:
“I am a great fan of Zodwa and believe society needs women like her to push the envelope. I believe that Zodwa is picking up stories from hearsay. I was excited to see her in the make-up room as I have often talked about her (even on my podcast, a week before she confronted me). I had often defended her from trolls and when we discuss her nude picture as a nation I always make sure we defend and protect her dignity as a woman.”
“I believe Zodwa has being attacked by many people and she assumed I am one of those. Until Zodwa can actually produce proof of me attacking her then I think we are just dealing with Zodwa’s insecurity right now. I don’t get into confrontations – that’s not my style or approach. I was excited to see her and she (mistakenly) made wrong accusations which she cannot own up to.
However, the poet speaks of focusing on her career and wished Zodwa love and happiness.
