Popular Kenyan hip hop musician Khaligraph Jones recently took to Instagram reacting after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) barred police officers from escorting officials of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya.
This comes shortly after Khaligraph led Kenyan artistes in an online protest against MCSK for underpaying musicians.
In his sentiments, he said that things are finally beginning to catch up with MCSK officials noting that it will be difficult for them to work without the escort of police officers.
“I told you this thing is gradual. Now that they don’t have police protection, they will encounter a lot of problems. There will be no arresting of people anyhow. And if things escalate, they may chased away by people, those are thieves. (Niliwaambia hii kitu ni Pole pole tu, Sasa Juu hakuna protection Ya polisi naona watu wakipata taabu, hakuna Kushikwa ovyo ovyo sasa na wakizidi, mnawaletea mbogi wanafkuzwa na vibare, Wezi hao..,) The People Shall Be respected,” Khaligraph wrote on Instagram.
Khaligraph had earlier on given a directive to MCSK not to arrest any individual playing his songs on the streets.
There was outrage a few weeks ago after MCSK paid Sh2500 as royalties to musicians and other artistes.
