After announcing Jay Z as hip hop’s first billionaire earlier this month, Forbes returns with the Richest Rappers 2019.
In addition to Hov, Dr. Dre ($800 million), Diddy ($740 million), Kanye West ($240 million), and Drake ($150 million) have made the list.
The business publication also revealed how they tally the totals:
In order to compile our ranking of the richest rappers, we use the same procedures employed in the calculation of our annual billionaires list: poring over financial documents, valuing major assets, and consulting with analysts, managers, attorneys and other industry insiders.
32-year-old Drake is the youngest artist to make the list by over a decade, increasing his net worth by over 50% in the last year thanks to endeavors such as his Virginia Black whiskey and new residency at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas.
Despite claiming to be $53 million in debt in 2016, Kanye has managed to amass nearly a quarter billion dollars thanks to his lucrative partnership with adidas.
Diddy’s extensive net worth comes from his majority stake in Ciroc, while Dr. Dre is still counting cash from Apple’s $3 billion acquisition of Beats By Dre in 2014.
Congratulations to everyone who made the list!
