Takeoff Biography
Kirshnik Khari Ball, who was better known by his stage name Takeoff, was an American rapper. He was born on June 18, 1994, and he passed away on November 1, 2022. Most of his fame came from the hip hop group Migos, which he was in with his uncle Quavo and first cousin once removed Offset. The song “Versace,” which was released by Migos in 2013, got to number 99 on the Billboard Hot 100. When he was in the seventh grade, he started making beats and working on developing rhythms, but he didn’t start making music professionally until 2011. The news came out on August 5, 2020, that Takeoff was named as the offender in a civil lawsuit filed by a female victim for “sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, gender violence, and interference with civil rights” at a party in Los Angeles in June of 2020. The party in question took place in June 2020. Takeoff was killed in Houston, Texas, on November 1, 2022, after being shot.
Early life
On April 2, 2021, it was reported that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office would not file criminal charges against Takeoff because there wasn’t enough evidence. This happened because there wasn’t enough proof. At this point, the civil suit is still being heard in court.
Career
Migos (2008–2022)
Takeoff, Quavo, and Offset, who are all from the same family, all started rapping in 2008. After a while, the band changed their name from Polo Club to Migos. Before that, they were known as Polo Club. On August 25, 2011, the group released a mixtape called Juug Season, which was their first longer work. The next day, June 1, 2012, they put out a mixtape called “No Label.”
Migos quickly became a popular music group after the release of their single “Versace” in 2013. Drake, a Canadian rapper, did the remix of the song, which peaked at number 99 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 31 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
The group’s first studio album, Yung Rich Nation, came out in July 2015. Chris Brown and Young Thug made guest appearances, and Zaytoven and Murda Beatz worked on the production. At number 17, the album was at its highest spot on the Billboard 200.
“Bad and Boujee” with Lil Uzi Vert was the first single by Migos to hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This happened in 2016. The week of January 21, 2017, was the best week for the song on the chart. Since the song was first released, the Recording Industry Association of America has given it a status of four times platinum (RIAA). Takeoff is not featured on the song and is not given credit for what he did, but he can be seen in the background of one scene in the music video. Takeoff has said that he wasn’t on the song because he was very busy when it was being made. On June 24, 2017, when Complex’s Everyday Struggle was being filmed at the BET Awards, hosts Joe Budden and DJ Akademiks asked him about his absence. He asked, “Does it look like I’m missing from “Bad and Boujee?” Because of Takeoff’s response, Budden left the set, and a fight almost broke out between Migos and Budden and their respective crews before security broke it up. Migos’ second studio album, Culture, came out on January 27, 2017, and it went straight to the top of the US Billboard 200 album chart. During the first week after the album came out, it sold 44,000 copies and moved 131,000 album-equivalent units. After that, the album was certified platinum for sales in the country in July of 2017.
Culture II, the band’s second studio album, was made available for sale online on January 26, 2018.
It was Migos’s second album to start at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. In its first week on the market, it sold 38,000 copies and moved a total of 199,000 equivalent units.
Legal issues
2015: Georgia Southern University incident
On April 18, 2015, Georgia Southern University’s 2015 Spring Concert was scheduled to take place at Hanner Fieldhouse, with Migos performing as the headlining act. Local opening artists performed before the show started at seven in the evening. In spite of this, the band didn’t start playing until about an hour and a half after their stated performance time of 9:00 p.m. The band only performed for just more than half of the minimum 45-minute set time specified in their performance contract before leaving the stage. As part of the concert’s security detail, the University Police Department, Statesboro Police Department, and Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office all picked up a potent smell emanating from the group’s vans. As a result, the drivers of the vans were questioned by law authorities. Further investigation led to the arrest of the rap group and 12 members of their group on a number of offenses, including marijuana and other controlled substance possession, gun possession near a school, gun possession during the commission of a crime, and gun possession by felons. The rap group was also accused of having weapons in a secure area near a school.
Despite the fact that university administration were aware of the group’s prominence, Migos were able to perform at the campus. This is because, out of the seven performances that were available for selection, the ensemble was chosen by the student population to perform. The cost of the concert was covered by student fees and ticket sales. The band was to be compensated $30,000 for their performance, and their promoter, Big House Collective, was to be given an additional $3,000, according to the performance contract. Due to the group’s tardy entrance, shorter performance, and possession of illegal substances on university grounds, university officials initially tried to argue that Migos had broken the terms of their contract; nevertheless, in the end, the university gave the group 50% of the agreed-upon costs.
Takeoff, Quavo, and six other members of their entourage were released on bonds on April 20, 2015, however Offset and six further members of his group remained in detention without being released. Migos stated on April 28, 2015 that they will be delaying the start of their Yung Rich Nation Tour until July as a direct result of their arrests.
2017: Atlanta flight incident
On July 7, 2017, just before takeoff on a Delta Airline flight from Atlanta to Des Moines, Iowa, the flight attendants asked that Takeoff be taken off the plane since it was rumored that he wouldn’t move his bag from the floor to an overhead storage bin.
2020–2021: Sexual assault allegations
According to news reports as of April 2nd, 2021, there was insufficient evidence for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office to bring charges against Takeoff. The civil lawsuit’s court proceedings are still going on right now.

Takeoff Cause Of Death
Takeoff, who was one-third of the platinum-selling rap group Migos, was shot and killed early Tuesday 1st of November, 2022, in Houston, Texas, a source close to the group confirmed to CNN. He was 28.
Police received a call of a shooting in progress around 2:34 a.m. local time, Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner said at a news conference Tuesday. Officers arrived to the 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston where there was a private party and found a dead man at the scene.
Two other people – a 23-year-old man and 24-year-old woman – were also injured in the shooting and took themselves to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, said Sgt. Michael Arrington with police department’s homicide division.
Employees told police an argument took place after the party ended when a large group of people gathered at the front door area outside of the building, which led to the shooting. At least 40 people were at the scene at the time of the shooting, Finner said.
“A lot of people that were there fled the scene and did not stick around to give a statement,” Arrington said.
Finner identified the deceased man as Kirshnik Khari Ball, also known as Takeoff of the rap group Migos.
“I got many calls from Houston and outside of Houston, and everyone spoke of what a great young man he is, how peaceful he is, what a great artist (he is),” Finner said, later adding that Takeoff was very well respected and nonviolent.
“I would not expect him to be involved … We have no reason to believe that he was involved in anything criminal at the time,” Finner said.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said they have met with Takeoff’s mother.
“It doesn’t matter how famous you are. You may not be famous at all,” Turner said. “Anybody who loses his or her life is a life lost, and there are family members and friends who are grieving as a result.”
