Christopher, James, and Mary Saunders, as well as Travis Stewart, were arrested and charged with murder and gang assault in connection with his death. Two suspects have accepted plea bargains, and the trials for the other two are set for October 2022. Stewart received a seven-year prison sentence, and Mary Saunders was released after 14 months on Rikers Island. Although the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office declined to comment, they did point out that all four defendants pleaded guilty, with two receiving lengthy prison sentences.
