Dr. Amie Harwick’s cause of death was revealed on Tuesday, just days after the well-known sex and family therapist died after allegedly being attacked by an ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse.
Amie Harwick Cause of Death
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office, Harwick, 38, died of blunt force injuries to her head and torso sustained on Saturday. The report also stated that there was “evidence of manual strangulation.” The case has been classified as a homicide.
Police said her injuries were consistent with a fall; her body was discovered near her Hollywood Hills home, beneath a three-story balcony.
Gareth Pursehouse, Harwick’s former boyfriend, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday by Los Angeles police. His bond has been set at $2 million. Harwick had a restraining order against Pursehouse previously.
Harwick was, for a time, engaged to Price Is Right host Drew Carey.
“I hope you’re lucky enough to have someone in your life that loves as much as she did,” Carey said via Twitter.
Amie Harwick Death Scene
Police were called to Harmick’s home in Los Angeles shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a “woman screaming.”
When they arrived at the scene, they met Harmick’s roommate outside the building, as he had fled to try to call for help, and he informed them that Harmick was being assaulted inside.
Harwick was found unconscious at the scene after apparently falling from a third-floor balcony and died at a hospital, according to police.
Cops said there was evidence of forced entry into the victim’s home as well as signs of a struggle inside.
