History of SASSAThe South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) was established in 2005 to provide social security services to eligible citizens. SASSA’s primary goal is to reduce poverty and inequality by providing financial assistance to vulnerable populations.
Government Regulation
SASSA operates under the Department of Social Development and is regulated by the South African Social Security Agency Act (No. 9 of 2004) and the Social Assistance Act (No. 13 of 2004).
