Poonam Sinha was born in Hyderabad on 3 November 1949 as Poonam Chandiramani (69 years old as of 2018). Scorpio is her astrological sign. In 1968, Poonam was named Miss Young India. She then began her acting career with the film “Jigri Dost.” Following that, she starred in the films Aadmi Aur Insaan and Aag Aur Daag. She was placed opposite Shatrughan Sinha in the 1973 film “Sabak.” Following that, she appeared in films like as Shaitaan, Dil Diwana, and Dream Girl. Poonam ended her acting career after marrying Shatrughan Sinha. Prem Geet and Mera Dil Leke Dekho are two more films she has produced.

She joined the Samajwadi Party on April 16, 2019, while her husband Shatrughan Sinha joined the Indian National Congress the same day after resigning from his position in the BJP. She was defeated by Rajnath Singh in the election for the Loksabha seat representing Lucknow (Lok Sabha constituency).
