On Thursday, President Cyril Ramaphosa answered questions from members of National Assembly through virtual platform.
According to him, the government did not decide on it’s own to extend or gradually ease the lockdown.
Ramaphosa spoke on corruption and stated that effort been made to curb it after the release of R500 billion economic and social relief fund.
He further revealed that the decision to reopen schools is not taken faintly. Safety protocols to ensure the safety of pupils, teachers and staff are already considered by the Government.
“As we observed the opening of schools around the world, the protocols they were putting in place and the advice we received, we realised we could do exactly the same thing but with even harder protocols.” Ramaphosa said.
The lockdown still remains at level 3.
