Mesut Ozil has missed Arsenal’s last two games through flu.
With Arsenal entering their time-honoured mid-season crisis, a lot of the attention is centering around the German.
Gooners love their German maestro and are hoping he signs a new contract, but for all his silky skills and touches, the unavoidable truth is that he goes missing in big games.
Interestingly, there seems to have been a sea change with Arsenal fans; time was, they didn’t dare criticize him, but there’s now a vocal anti-Ozil brigade in the Ozil ranks.
And some fans even seemed to find his flu story a bit suspicious, after Arsene Wenger declared that he hadn’t seen the player for a week.
Back in training
But feat not, Arsenal fans: Ozil really did have the flu.
He posted a picture of himself returning to training today, looking a bit wan and drained, reporting that he’s now back in action, albeit not at 100%.
