Tokyo locals turned up at the airport in their numbers to greet Real Madrid’s squad of superstars as they arrived in Japan ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup opener. Zinedine Zidane’s side landed in Asia at around 5am (local time) on Monday morning as they made the trip from the Spanish capital.
The Frenchman has named a strong 23-man squad including Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema for the prestigious tournament in Japan.
Gareth Bale is the only major absentee from Real Madrid’s travelling party as the Welshman is sidelined with a severe ankle injury.
