SAMUEL ETO’O could face ten-and-a-half years in prison and after being accused of tax fraud, according to reports in Spain.
The Cameroonian forward played for Real Madrid, Mallorca and Barcelona in La Liga.
And El Pais report he owes almost £3million in tax from 2006 to 2009, while he was at the Nou Camp.
As well as the long prison term, prosecutors are demanding he be fined around £12m.
Eto’o is accused of getting around tax through a complicated and illegal image rights structure.
He ran two companies — Bulte 2002 in Spain and Tradesport in Hungary — and this allowed him to transfer his image rights between the two and avoid having to pay tax.
While he also received around £2m-a-year from Puma.
Meanwhile, Spanish prosecutors are demanding current Barcelona attacker, Neymar, go to prison for five years.
The 24-year-old is accused of fraud of the structure of his transfer from Santos to the Nou Camp in 2013.
DIS — a strategic partner of the Brazilian club — believe they are owed more money as statements show the majority of the transfer fee was given to Neymar’s parents.
And Lionel Messi‘s ongoing court cases have put his Barcelona future in doubt, whileJavier Mascherano was also in the dock following accusations of tax avoidance.
